Exercise Bike Resistance Stuck – Motor and Control Problems

Is your exercise bike's resistance stuck on one level? Learn to troubleshoot a jammed resistance motor, a stuck tension cable, or worn magnetic brake pads.

For Electronic Resistance: Check the Servo Motor

A humming or buzzing from the resistance motor when you press a button, but no change, indicates the motor is jammed or has failed.

For Manual Resistance: Check the Tension Cable

If you turn the knob and nothing happens, the tension cable connecting the knob to the brake may have snapped or become disconnected.

Troubleshooting a Jammed Magnetic Brake

Check for any debris or foreign objects that may have fallen into the flywheel housing and are obstructing the movement of the magnets.

Worn Friction Brake Pads

On a spin bike with friction resistance, a worn-out brake pad can sometimes get stuck against the flywheel.
