Exercise Bike Overcurrent Protection Tripping – Load Causes
Learn why your exercise bike's overcurrent protection is tripping. It's a crucial safety warning about motor load or control board failure.
What is Overcurrent Protection?
This is a safety feature in the bike's electronics that detects when a component, like the resistance motor, is drawing too much power.
Cause 1: Jammed Resistance Motor
If the resistance motor is mechanically stuck, it will try to draw a large amount of current when a command is sent, tripping the protection circuit.
Cause 2: Short Circuit on the Control Board
A failed component on the main control board can cause a short circuit, leading to an overcurrent situation.
Cause 3: Incorrect Power Adapter
Using an AC adapter that supplies the wrong voltage can cause components to draw too much current and trigger the protection.
